Hey guys and gals,
I'm currently using a pretty old school AIWA amp/speaker system for my pc sound and I'm trying to add in surround speakers. The problem is I'm not sure what sort of plugs it takes for the surround. I will upload two photos...one is of the plugs on the back of the unit for the surround(please ignore the cobwebs), and the other is the plugs coming from the surround speakers I have along with an adapter they came with. If I plug them into the adapter, that then fits into one of the surround ports but doesn't work(and would be both into one anyway). If I plug them in raw they work if I push them in and hold but don't stay I because obviously the ports don't match. I will also need to extend the length of them.
Can anyone help me in identifying what type of cord I need for the extension and most importantly what sort of converter I need to fit the ports on the back of the unit.....?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Sean.

Sean...the first picture is for bare wires. If your cable has RCA jacks on it, you have to remove the plugs, separate the + - for your connection. You press on the "ears which open the holes, insert the wire, release the ears which hold the wire in place. Be careful to get the proper + - correct.
Yes, removing the plugs, separating the + - for your connection, pressing on the tabs/ears which open the holes to insert the wire then releasing the tabs/ears which hold the wire in place... is the easiest approach :)
It looks like you need 1/8" (3.5mm) plug to rca jack adapter. Most people are familiar with the stereo version of trs (tip, ring, sleeve), but as 6bq5 already posted, you need the mono version, the tip and sleeve. If you care about this receiver, you might want to get some new spring clips too.

The "y" adapter is for a Stereo connection - and the jacks on the rear of your unit are Mono - single channel-
You will need a jack that has only one black band after the notched tip, and then connects to an 'RCA' style jack for the speaker wire.
Happy Listening
Thank you so much! I shall get on the search today
This is the device that you seek. You need two of them to function as a stereo pair.
