I just purchased some factory terminated Audioquest Type 4 Factory Terminated speaker cables off of Audiogon. They are 8' with spades on the amp end and bananas on the speaker end. Single wire, they will be used to run from an Acoustat TNT-120 amp to a pair of Acoustat Model 3 speakers.
My goal is to have nothing but the amp on a low stand in between the speakers. I will need about 12' of interconnect to make that work.
My two thoughts, within my budget are:
1) a new pair of Audioquest "Black Mamba" intereconnects from Audioadvisor.com. They are sold only through Audio Advisor, so I'm not sure what in the regular line they compare to.
2) there's a member here selling old Monster M1000 Mk ii in a 12 foot pair. I'm not a fan of Monster's business practices, but these were considered good cables back in the day.
What do you think?
Follow Ups:
Stick w/ AudioQuest cabling.
If the choice is between those two, get the AQ.
John,
Is there something else in the ~$200 for a 4 meter pair you would recommend I consider?
I was basing my suggestion on my belief in maintaining the same cable brand throughout the system and my dissatisfaction with that generation of Monster Cable.
You might consider Anti-Cable. Or, if Nordost still makes a product in that price strata, that's what I'd buy.
Good hunting.
It may depend on what you think of the Audioquest Type 4 speaker cable. If you like the presentation, and at the price point for a 3m or 4m pair of AudioQuest Black Mamba II interconnects, I suggest you go ahead and try a set. I'm a fan of the rca connector the cable build features, so it's a plus in my book. I have a hunch you may like the design for your wants/needs (no guarantee, though). Audio Advisor offers right of return if not satisfied.
