TWisted pair is simply 2 wires laid together in a spiral pattern.
If you are 5 feet between connections, un-twisting the wire will result in an additional few inches.
This is as opposed to 'twin lead' or parallel, like zip cord where 2 identical wires are bonded together at the edges and SHOULD be easy to separate.
