I've long been advocating eliminating the 15A IEC from (good) hi-fi gear in favor of the 20A IEC. Those who have both know what I mean. The blades are horizontal, not vertical and have well over 2X the surface area which to me is the key.
I've had equipment that draws less than an amp audibly benefit from the bigger 20A IEC. It has nothing to do with the current draw of the piece of gear either its surface area and one more thing. The 20A IEC stays completely seated! We've all had a robust power cord with 15A IEC come loose or even fall completely out of the socket. The seating depth is too little (much more on a 20A) and too easy to remove.
So if you have a chance look at a 20A IEC pair (male/female) and see how superior they plug and stay together. It is pretty easy to modify any gear and remove the stock 15A IEC in favor of a 20A and worth the effort for sound and stability.

Awe, You certainly possess a lot of knowledge. Now that I've hit my stride and am receiving my Social Security checks, I find my hearing has
suffered the fate of all too many males. I've lost a considerable amount of high frequency hearing.
I wonder, after reading your posts, if you have come of the age where high frequency hearing starts to go away, or, if are one of the lucky ones (like all the guys at Stereophile) that hasn't lost his HF hearing?
I am one of the lucky ones......for now. I still have a few years before seeing 60. I also have great hearing still for which I am grateful. Part of this goes to friends that convinced me to wear earplugs every time I rode my motorcycle even w/ a full face helmet. The other was that I was a board certified hearing instrument specialist for about 5 years. I learned a lot about people and what they did to help ruin their hearing.
I have loved electronics my whole life and got a lot of knowledge following many here over the last 10+ years. My wife and I are both extra class ham radio operators too and I built and installed all my antennas. I love fixing old tube radios too. But really my skill level is fairly basic although I'm very good with a soldering iron.
