Your cords look great, and I'm glad you like the sound. Do you believe those VALab parts are what they claim they are? Have you compared their sound to any other connectors in an identical configuration? I just have a hard time believing their claims because of the prices they can charge. I've bought a couple VALab items and they were pretty junky. It's been shown that their "rhodium" plating is probably nickel; vigorously disputed, of course, by VALab.I've made PC's with Furutech connectors and not very fancy wire, and they turned out to be excellent. I think the connectors are more important than wire in a PC, so I really wonder about whether these connectors are any good in addition to being incredibly cheap.
Peace,
Tom E

IIRC, Duster spent quite a bit of time evaling the VALab connectors and found them to be exceedingly good value for the price. I have learned to trust his opinions over the years. This thing about plating being bogus is troubling, but must also admit to having heard it here for the first time. I don't own any of their connectors, but need to build a new PC for a regenerator and am seriously considering their connectors. I'd prefer to use Oyaide C series connectors, but the price of them has gone from expensive to nearly ridiculous.
I know Duster promoted this company's products here for a while, which is what prompted me to order a few things from them that turned out to be less than what I expected. I also respect Duster's opinion, but I don't believe he's infallible.
I find Furutech, even their least expensive model, to be the best conflation of price and quality, in terms of materials and sound. Never tried Oyaide, for exactly the point you made.
Peace,
Tom E
Yes, thanks to Duster's experience, knowledge and willingness to share prompted me to try the VAlab connectors. And I don't regret it for a nano second.
I have no reason to believe the Valab connectors are not what they claim to be. Are the Furutech connectors what they claim to be? Late last year I did compare Supra LoRad cable with cheap connectors from a Bob Crump PC and Supra LoRad with Valab connectors. I alternately switched the cables back and forth on the transport playing the same selection of music and there was no doubt in my ears that the Valab connectors sounded superior by a noticeable margin. Not very scientific, but I’m comfortable with that. My ears despite their faults are what I trust. So yes I believe they are a quality product and incredibly inexpensive.
Happy ears to ya,

I also believe they are "incredibly inexpensive." That's exactly my point. Rhodium is still a semi-precious metal, even in Hong Kong. Carbon fiber isn't a lot cheaper there than anywhere else. But if eBay says it's real, it must be true.
If they sound good to you, then that's all that's important. And they do look nice. Good job for making your own.
Peace,
Tom E
Thanks Tom, and
Peace be Upon You.
