I opened up the speakers and found that the Wireworld cabling was used for each of the drivers too, with the exception of the super tweeter. I am starting to suspect that this was a retrofit kit offered by Wireworld for this model speaker, as the termination is too good to be otherwise.
The crossovers are complete and in place within the enclosures. So, it would appear that the epoxy blob, is some sort of transformer doohickey, ala MIT/Transparent etc.
I have been a stereo nut for most of my 52 years, and I have never been interested in knowing what these silly speaker wire modules were. Til now that is... I always suspected snake oil or similar, especially when they started to have lights on them etc.

Another great pic!
Thanks!
I really enjoy it when someone posts close up pictures of a project or an obscure/rare item.
Are the super tweeters positioned on the pillars located in front of the loudspeakers? Perhaps the mystery box, assuming there are two of them, is the external crossover for each super tweeter...
The capacitors for the crossover are located beneath the oxblood colored base that the inductors and wires are screwed to.
