Hi i am interested mostly on power cords for digital equipment
I wonder if anyone is aware of measurements on power cord in general just to learn something before committ myself to a good quality buy.
Then i have also another generic question.
Do you use a shielded power cord with your dac ?
I am using a separate dac as a digital source and i am testing different transports.
But i need to know how much a power cord can impact dac performances.
Thanks to all for any welcome advice.
Kind regards,
bg

Most of them are 6 feet long, though I also have a couple of 5 footers.
The cord on my digital equipment is 6 foot though. ;^)
Hi and yes but it is not what i meant
I think that a power cord is in the end a filter, with its inductance, capacitance and resistance distributed along the length
But to be honest i have never seen measurements of these parameters
So maybe you are right. Only length counts.
Kind regards,

...forget measurements here and just experiment.
I would not ground it.
Power cords and power conditioning will usually make more of a difference with a DAC than with anything else.
and I prefer unshielded even for digital

Fluke medical for low leakage power cords. a factor seemingly never addressed by any audiophile wire company. The aguges are rather small but work well for digital.
Hi and thanks and very interesting
I wonder if the recommendation could be extended to mostly hospital grade power cords ... i see many on ebay.com
Thanks again

Hospital grade is not necessarily low leakage. HG usually refers to ends . Low leakage is the cable itself.
Hi and thanks for the helpful advice
I guess that for "ends" you mean the plugs ?
Anyway i am looking for suggestions of cheap but good quality power cords to try with my dac. Here we use 230VAC and Schuko plugs.
But as long as cable is ok also for 230VAC i could buy an American power strip and use an adapter.
Maybe among off-the-shelf industrial cables there are some hidden gems ?
Thanks again.
Kind regards,

So true -Stu.
Power cords and power conditioning will usually make more of a difference with a DAC than with anything else.
CD transport as well, from my experience.
Hi and thanks a lot for the kind and valuable reply
It is important for me to know that dacs in particular are sensitive to power cords
digital has been my main problem for the last 15 years
I will read the suggestions here for this equipment
Thanks again
