I have a naim nait 5i-2 which I anm enjoying very much. My question I have been using high quality cables with it I am using tellurium q black with rca's. A friend of mine let me borrow a cheap 5pin din going from my RCA from my cd player to my nait 5i-2 he got on eBay. . The cheap 5 pin din sounded better. Does this make sense. Left me scratching my head..any input would be helpful, .

Naim is fond of five pin plugs. I'm not surprised that it sounds better. They recommend their NACA 5 speaker wire, too, as giving better sound since it's an integral part of the overall system.
I'm sure someone in the forum will be happy to/ has already explained the physics of it.
A Naim secret- I am sure. The company does suggest using their DIN products.
the owners manual I read just said it is better to use the DIN inputs, it did not mention what brand of cable to use. Maybe it is assumed to be a Naim because it would probably have to be DIY otherwise.

Yes, it would be a DIY otherwise.
Actually I wasted a few minutes via Google and found a few companies making DIN cables for Naim; BIS Audio, Teddy Pardo, Connex and Luminous Audio (who may have now stopped)

I wonder how these cables stack up against the Naim-brand DIN cables/cords?
I bought a rica to 5 pin din from moon audio nicely built and see how it sounds?

Looking forward to your impressions -earnie3.
All Naim lit says it is always better to use their dIN input over the RCA ins for sound quality. I found no data related to input impedance or anything else to see if there was a difference there between RCA and dIN which may affect sound.
Also as you know most cables have a difference in sound and that could be part or all of it as well.
