with an aluminum 1/2" X close pipe nipple and then use two single duplex cover plates. This configuration would be better if you use wall warts. (Note, the two boxes should fasten fairly tight against one another for a nice appearance.)
The cord would connect to the first box and wires would pass through the 1/2" nipple to the next box.NOTE. If you decide to use the weather proof Bell box for your project make sure you get the style shown in the picture/s on the Links I have provide. Some weather proof boxes use a steel strap at each end of the box to fastening the duplex receptacle. You do not want this type of box.
For the duplex covers you might want to look at,
The Liberty Hardware 126453 Wood Insert Single Duplex Wall Plate, Satin Nickel and Dark Caramel.
This is/was a recommended duplex cover plate by "Duster" a while back.http://www.amazon.com/Liberty-Hardware-126453-Insert-Caramel/dp/B00368CI12

created the channel around the back of the faceplate to receive rope caulk. Much improvement if this is done. Got the Bell boxes. In order to use the Liberty Brainerd faceplate one needs at least a 2 inch threaded pipe. I bought plastic ones but will probable get the 3" aluminum ones since 2 and 2.5" don't seem to exist. In an imperfect test I compared plastic to the Bell box and do believe I heard an improvement. Clearer treble and more airy bass. The plastic box was already somewhat damped so it is likely the Bell boxes will be even better. Thanks for the suggestion. Tweaker

I see the pipe and compression connector.Tweaker
Some stainless steel is magnetic. Some stainless steel is non-magnetic due to a special manufacturing process that affects ferrous magnetism. Look for sellers/products indicating non-magnetic or simply test the steel with a magnet.
Yo jea, Can you show me the nonferrous box connector? The Duster recommended faceplates are the Brainerd 126456 which is the only one I tested and loved it. Any comments on others compared to the Brainerd??? People seem to like it alot, including me. Thanks, Tweaker

This nipple will not work with the Libery Brainered plate. It must be longer . Need to look for that. Tweaker
Ok jea and Duster , thanks. The compression fitting was steel. Tweaker

Sorry, what steel compression fitting?
The two boxes will connect together using an aluminum 1/2" X CLOSE rigid nipple threaded into the tapped 1/2" pipe thread hubs on the two boxes.
For the cord strain relief connector buy one made from nylon or from high impact plastic.

An added note, if you decide to go with the bell boxes cut off the 6/32" support screws that fasten the duplex receptacle to the box, or just buy shorter ones about a 1/2" long. Or buy a 6/32" bottom end tap and run it through the existing 6/32" tapped holes in the boxes. Sometimes 1" or 1-1/4" 6/32 screws get a little tight toward the end of screwing them into the boxes.

There was an ad for a steel compression connector in the info you sent me on the single gang box. It wont be used. Looks like Duster likes aluminum for vib damping over plastic for this project. Tweaker
Jim, will the Bell aluminum boxes sound better that plastic boxes in your experiance if you ever abed the things. I could just string another cheap plastic box and hide the rig but if these boxes sound much better I'd go with them. I'd also go with brass screws. Thanks, Tweaker
Sorry, I can't help you there. Duster may have some experience using a plastic box.

IMO, a plastic box may be an expedient way to build a low-budget DIY power distributor, but an AC outlet mounted on a plastic box doesn't make sense from an audiophile POV since it won't provide the kind of rigid high-mass resonance damping and electrical shielding that an aluminum box can provide. The benefit of a rigid thick-walled aluminum box is directly associated with damping detrimental resonance produced at the AC socket contacts/AC plug blades interface when firmly affixed to the aluminum box via the backstrap of the AC outlet, especially the two ground prongs of a duplex outlet directly fastened to the backstrap. The rigid high-mass brass backstrap of an Audio Grade AC outlet like that of an Oyaide R1 is of great benefit to the sound, especially when mounted on an Oyaide WPC-Z aluminum wall bracket. Many users report that the Oyaide WPC-Z improves the sound as much as an Oyaide AC outlet does. YMMV
Thanks Duster, I'll likely go with the inexpensive Bell aluminum boxes instead of plastic. Tweaker
Thanks for the heads up and reminder of not to use steel and the plates. "Dusters" plates are awsome. I can hide these behind my cabinet. Will be much better with the face plates. Good work, Tweaker
