Never underestimate the gullibility of an audiophile. Welcome to the Enid Lumley Society for the Propogation of Hoodwinks, Hooey, and Hoaxes. Let the vitriol flow...

never underestimate the snarkiness of a troll.
I've seen worse...
....is not having tried what he snarks about.
Experience is not on his list.
Hmmm... I seem to have expressed an unpopular opinion here in the Cable forum. Is there a Common Sense forum at the Asylum?
By the way, I was just ridiculed in another forum (not AA) for opining that burn-in is very real for headphones and speakers. I'll even allow that it might be valid for components. But no, not for wires. Are you telling me that the burn-in process knocks the electrons in the wire out of their orbits so as to make them conduct better? Or that it better "aligns" the electrons to allow the passage of energy? Someone is laughing all the way to the bank.
Interesting. I made all that stuff up about knocking the electrons in the wire out of their orbits so as to make them conduct better, and better aligning the electrons to allow the passage of energy off the top of my head. Maybe I should make a Cable Reconditioner - I'm sure I can come up with some pseudo-scientific rhetoric to back up its exorbitant price. I can even pay some sham physicist to endorse it! I can be sure that no one would admit to not hearing a difference after its use for fear that they would be considered un-trained listeners, and I can also be sure that anyone that pointed out that it was a fake would be personally ridiculed and their voracity called into question. You have to love this hobby.
Actually, YES. The "passage of energy" is enhanced, as the electrons are following a straighter path.
This was explained to me by a physicist several years ago.
...we now get the contrary opinion of a man who studied drumming during physics class.
axolotl
.
attributes drumming seems.to think break in involves. Where did you get those from?
But of course, you knew that.

Geoff
If you want to believe that miniscule (unproven and unmeasurable) differences in dielectic properties at the voltages, frequencies, and impedances inherent in moving coil or moving magnet cartridges are even the slightest bit audible, by all means, knock yourself out.
But I leave you with this thought: What makes you think that the cables stop changing when they are at their absolute best? What makes you think they won't start to sound sour after a while? Maybe they're like tubes and break-in, sound good for a while, then break down. The change would be imperceptable day-to-day, but cumulative over time. Your system just doesn't sound as good as it used to. Then you could buy my Super Deluxe Cable Reconditioner! On sale this Black Friday for only $2,995.95. A bargain at twice the price!
Just be sure to wear earplugs to avoid further hearing damage.
