I just bought a Richard Gray 600rm pro power line conditioner without the power cord . The unit does not have its power cable which the seller could not find . The unit has a 20 amp c19 input . Ive been wondering if it could be feasible to get me a 20 amp to 15 amp adapter to use a 15 amp power cable to energized the unit . The reasoning being not having to much funds as basically all the 20 amp power cable are rather expensive( over three hundred dollars worth all though I did find one at ebay for 119 but you know how things are at ebay) and there being many 15 amp cable on the market with excellent reviews I might be able to consider these for use . Knowing well enough that many small things in a system can impact the sound to some extent would using a adapter degrade the sound to much ? Shunyata sells what seems to be a good quality adapter but they sell it for 150 dollars . Iceage audio on ebay sells one which seems to be good at 119 dollars cryo treat and all the works for that matter . Or just to be safe should I just try to get a OEM replacement ? My system consist of Audible illusions pre Mccormack amp jps cabling all over and magnepan or spica speakers . In advance thank you guys for your remarks .

Thanks duster for your suggestiom . I had thougth about building my own cable or altering one putting on it a c19 20. Amp connector . I haven't considered it to much thinking that maybe the connection made by the manufacturer might be propietary or something special that inadvertantly I might spoil . Seems that I was wrong . I do have some experience with some DIY so that won't be a problem . Pangeas connector which Duster took the time to kindly add in his comment seems to be a better adapter then run of the mill ones , mybe not as good as the shunyata but a reasonable one with a good price . Again you guys are great and I thank you very much for taking the time to help me .
A mundane 20A OEM replacement power cord would feature a 20A AC plug, and would not be a good sounding choice anyway. One option would be to replace the stock 20A IEC inlet with a 15A IEC inlet if you are willing/able to modify the chassis back panel, since there are no drop-in 15A IEC inlet replacements with the same dimensions as the stock 20A IEC inlet. The most obvious option is to continue to shop for an affordable power cord build that features a 15A AC plug and 20A IEC connector. Some power cord builders/sellers offer a 20A IEC connector option, such as the Economy Wattgate 320i 20A IEC connector if an Audio Grade IEC connector is priced too high for your budget. If willing/able, a DIY project to replace a 15A IEC connector terminated power cord with 20A IEC connector may not be too difficult, even for a DIY newbie if well-informed, careful, and confident.
A 15A to 20A IEC adapter is bound to degrade performance, but if you wish to use one, a Pangea IEC adapter with copper contacts (not brass) seems to be a good economic option.
