What are its input connection options? Sometimes less is more.

active. Rca or Speakon connections. The Speakon cable is very thin. Does it make sonic difference?

I don't know the distance but if available I would try both the speaker level and RCA line level and compare. Because you are not trying to transfer lots of current to drive the amplified subwoofer (the subs amp does that) large conductors are not needed. Good ones are needed. Is it a REL? You can remove the speakon on the sub and just do wire to wire just one connection? I'd prefer that to adding two connectors for three more connections.
