Make sure to wire the 4-conductor Mogami 3104 cross-connected (star quad):
Red & Orange for positive (+), Yellow & Brown for negative (-)

Hello inmates, I'm brand new on here so I apologise for raising this old thread but I'm expecting arrival of this cable any day now, I'm currently using QED XT400, but thought I would try Mogami 3104 to hear what it can do, so I definitely use the cores opposite each other?,
I'm looking forward to hearing it on my kit, my amp is a Sugden A21SE & KEF R3 speakers.
Always a pleasure.
Duster- I just noticed that my 3104 colors are not the same as your diagram ...
Mine look like this, so I used red and yellow for positive and brown and orange for negative. I guess they are wired correct after all, yes?BTW, I'm now at 50 hours with these cables, and I'm amazed at how different they sound already. I have to say, their coherency is really great, and that perceived lack of highs, is starting to become a memory. I realize, that these are simply true to the signal. The megacable was indeed bright.. I can't believe the nuances I'm hearing with a less bright cable, seems it would be counter productive, but, it's true.. The bass is strong and true giving weight and presence to the instruments. I think I might have a keeper! I never heard glare before, I think I now know what it sounds like, now that the megacable gas been replaced with the mogami. More detail, less bright, with much more finesse up top. I like it.

Yes. Based on the photo you posted, the following configuration would be correct:
Red & Yellow for positive (+), Orange & Brown for negative (-)
Really- I don't believe i have done this. I will check when I go home. I think I did red and yellow for positive and brown and orange for negative. Could this cause audible effects? Im very intrigued by your post. Can you explain a little more about star quad? I didnt realize that it was important. I just arbitrily assigned colors on my own. Looking forward to switch the colors when I get home.
Thanks duster!
When wired cross-connected (star quad) vs. side-by-side wiring, the benefits of a cross-connected 4-conductor speaker cable implemented for a single channel audio cable application are:
1. Lowered inductance vs. a simple twisted pair.
2. More efficient noise cancellation (both incoming noise rejection and outgoing noise suppression) vs. a simple twisted pair.
A potential downside is increased capacitance vs. a twisted pair, but only when particular amplifiers are said to be quite sensitive to high capacitance speaker cables due to the potential of amplifier oscillation as a result.
Thanks Duster,
So it is possible that my miswiring could be the cause for the percieved rolled off highs?
