For this post & the one about power cables-you have to listen and make the decision for yourself. Always trust your own ears.
Searching the archives for those w/similar gear and asking questions can help identify certain products that may work for you but in the end, there are too many variables to say this or that will work best or won't work, etc.
Be prepared to experiment.
One of the things I would do to start with, in order to get a true representation of the cables you're auditioning would be to run direct to the wall and bypass the monster stuff. Also, just like any piece of gear, only change one thing at a time and listen for at least a few days before making a decision. I would suggest putting the other cable back in to see if there's a change.
Taking notes helps, as audio memory can be short lived.

Driver,Thanks for your detailed response. Indeed, the stereo is ran through two separate lines. One is a 15 amp line the feeds the monster stuff, which only feeds the video equipment and sacd player. The other line, is a 20 amp and solely feeds the ARC Equipment, pre and power amps, straight. I feel both the amp and preamp sound better directly into the wall. I use a wattgate silver receptacle. I will be experimenting for sure. I just cleaned all my connections- took a while, and my q tips turned black, especially my xlr jacks, (used alcohol) the sound literally came flying out of the speakers!! It was WAAAAAY to long since I had last cleaned my connections. I was aghast at how dirty they really were.

Cleaning contacts can make a big difference. I recently did the same thing to my system using Kontak and there was an improvement. As soon as I finish my amp's new power cord, I'll do it again.
To get back to your original question, I recently put two pair in my system (CD & tuner) of Mogami 2549 configured w/both conductors to pin & shield to ground. I auditioned them on my little headphone rig & found them to be very good.
It's also been my experience that power cords & outlets have a bigger impact than the other cables. Of course, it all depends on the gear, the AC itself & so on.
