Found these for $4 at the local computer thrift. I'm sure they're not super expensive, but can't find anything on the net. They seem fairly well built and are shielded.
Anyone know when these were sold and where in pecking order?
And is "Transparent Audio Laboratory" the same maker as contemporary high-end maker "Transparent"?
Follow Ups:
These are actually very nice cables. Well worth the $4.00!
I currently have them between my TT and preamp. They beat out a pair of QED Qunex2 for this position. Better soundstage and resolution. Less grainy top end too. This is after A/B'ing via headphones and speakers with no other changes to the system. I think they're better shielded too as the noise floor of the phono input dropped.
Mit Zaps are a great cable if in good condition well worth it as good as any. Cable from late 80s early 90s. Years ago if i remember was 30 to 50 bucks per meter. Nice ofc cable check cable joint to make sure intact. Still using in my home theater!!
Good luck

Thanks for reminding me to post a follow up. See my response under the original post.
Yeah, the cables are in good shape. One of the strain reliefs has the outer sleeve pulled out of the clamp, but the solder connections are still very strong. Will fix eventually. Probably shorten the cables as I am really liking them between TT and pre and only need 1/2m there.
It does not seem to be a Transparent Cables product.
Must be a different "Transparent". Here's pics. Seems worth the $4. Still have to try them. Maybe I can save for that day I set up a friend with a beginner system.
Àlthough I'm not familiar with zap link they do look like older Transparent cables including the RCAs and grey/beige color I have seen here.
Contact them. The "music link" lowest one of the offerings I had here sounded pretty damn nice for the $$ too.

I think you are right. I would bet that Transparent dropped "Laboratory" from their name at some point. I reckon the Zaplink 3 cable is actually a legacy Transparent Audio cable product (pre-internet).
They look like Transparent to me, but I found no info found on the internet.
I wonder whether they have the network.
Those look a lot like my MIT ZAPChords circa 1992.....
Now the pieces of the puzzle are starting to fit:
"1985
Transparent begins to distribute and manufacture MIT cables.1993
Transparent begins to design, distribute, and manufacture Transparent Cables starting with a complete audio cable line up with the Ultra Series as the flagship product"I only have one cheap pair of MIT, which I think are junk (from maybe the year ~2000), but the Transparents that I have are much better in manufacture and especially sound.
