Basis 1400 turntable with Rega 301 arm and Ortofon 2M Bronze cartridge
Audio Note CDT Two/II transport and @.1B Dac with tube output stage
Shindo Auriges preamp with built in phono stage

Magnapan 3.6 speakers with Mye stands
PurePower+ 1500 Regenerator
I placed one each MSA cable on the Dac and power amps. I wanted to put a cable on my preamp but I could not get the cable to stay connected to the pre
The cable as ordered is only 1 meter in length but can be ordered at longer lengths. The cable is somewhat stiff but can be carefully bent to suit. It is bright white so in my all black system they visually stand out. All cables in my system are plugged into the regenerator. The original cables were over 5 years old and were top of the line Synergitic Research and a Nordost cable. Sorry I don't remember the model numbers. I also have tried some Venom cables but there was no improvement in sound and even a slight roll off of high frequencies.
The MSA cables out of the box sounded a little dull with slower transients and a little loss of detail. They require a settling in after there shipment coiled up from New Zealand. After about 30 minutes the dullness disappeared and sounded very nice. There is an increase of overall clarity to the system as well as an increase in low level resolution. These improvements are small in nature but definitely audible.
The changes are comparable to putting new interconnects into the system. The change in sound is enough to keep the cables and at a price of only $139 are worth it to me. I might try moving the Dac cable to the input of the regenerator although I cannot see how this would work when the regenerator creates a new sine wave.
I recommend this power cable. Also shipment from New Zealand was only 5 days

Interesting read, I have all after market(lower end) power cords and can't say for sure I noticed any differences . That Does not mean I dont believe but I am a bit skeptical. I think I'm a preamp short of my forever system ( Rogue Audio M180s , 99 supermag,Ares upgraded Cinemag 1254 SUTs , VPI HR-X with a Lyra Helicon and a Shelter 901 Soundsmith level 3 retip, EE minimaxCDP that seldom gets used but sounds great and Vandys 3a Sig with W2 subs) with the Exception of wanting the Hera II pre I am set (for now)as far as speakers amps and sources go. I am now considering a PC upgrade but have BPT transformers in the chain and am wondering what I would gain and in what position I should Start My amps are on an older BPT 2.5 and the front end and pre are on a BPT1 ultra . Open to your thoughts but am trying to keep it at in the $300 range used to start Possibly 500 .
Thanks Roger

Good position. This isn't a church so "believing" isn't required.
Think of it this way: If a power cord makes a significant difference then the equipment is inadequate for it's environment. I'd like to say it's defective but since the home audio environment is Soooo wide open, undefined and uncontrolled no one can really knows what an optimum design is.
Even if you measured all the interface factors in your extant system it wouldn't help because the stuff you shop for isn't well specified. And that's why we end up just trying a bunch of stuff seeking "system synergy". While technically I don't approve, emotionally it's actually is one of the reasons that this is a hobby. An adventure. If stuff just worked, well, I wouldn't be tapping this!

Oh But it is a church, isn't it??
anyone with updates?

Sure looks weird, just like the photo on the website. I bought mine sans the AC connector in order to use a spare Furutech one I have. I like to burn these things in on the refrigerator, so it will be a while before i hear it. Will try to report then if I feel I can add anything cogent. Don't hold your breath :-)
Glad you got the power cord. Didn't know you could order it without ends. Ordered copper ends for mine.
Interesting about the fridge. Does it pull more juice than a big amp? With very little insulation, it shouldn't take much to break in the cord.
My cord is due any day. The Oppo 105 is ready. Will also try it on the VTL amp. If it does well, I might drag it over to a friend's system. His full range Martin-Logan CLS stats are very revealing.
thanks
Do you think you'll be switching back to your Synergitic Research and Nordost to confirm positive findings, or was the improvement so convincing you feel it unnecessary?
Never trust an Atom, they Make Up everything!
I think the way todo it is to listen to my system for a couple of months with a lot of material and then try the old cables to see if my assessment still stands
Alan
I agree. For me anyway, finding out how I react to going back to the before condition after having lived with the change for a while is the real proof.
Good review! Listing your equipment is a plus. Well done.
How is the tonal balance vs your other PC's? Bet putting a PC on the regenerator input will make a difference. That new 60hz sine wave is still based on the ac from the wall. The less noise to start with the better.
thanks

I need more time to get a real firm feel for what I am hearing. I have been fooled several times into liking a change only to find out in the long term it was not really a positive change. The regenerator has a strange input socket with the blades being at a different orientation to my standard cables. It excepts only the power cord that comes with it. Maybe it is a Canadian thing?

Straight and to the point. Just the way I like them.
Thank you
