First a few caveats. If you can't deal with it then read no further.
1. I tried the Black Discus and was sufficiently impressed so that I became a dealer for MSA
2. Being a dealer, I have worked with Bob over many of his new products and applications: Both experimentally and assessing his ideas. Many of these ideas I have already shared over on the Tweaks asylum, BTW.
3. I have NOT tried the MSA power cord.
4. Being a dealer and mindful of AA rules, I have strived to avoid making posts dealing with MSA, particularly to tout a product I carry.
That being said, EVERYONE misses one key point. The cord WS touts employs Bob's Kegs, a device which I know he has been diligently working on. One can make an analogy to ferrites, but the BD upon which it is based is far more than a simple ferrite and IMHO FAR FAR superior to any ferrites I have tried (believe me, I have tried so many its not even remotely humorous).
When employed face to face with a mumetal/copper sandwich between as I use them, they significantly reduce the noise floor, adding fine detail in the process and increasing dynamics and particularly bass response. Again, as a dealer, I have literally sold thousands of these kegs, using them in PLCS and after the IEC inputs and on the B+ output of power transformers.
One of my first experiments was to use double kegs on all AC legs on a duplex outlet placed in a junction box. The sonic difference was staggering. The signal quality was significantly increased. Now I once was a Shunyata dealer and until then I have not come across a PLC which can match the Hyda for amplifiers or any really high current draw component. The kegs easily surpassed the Hydra and did not require the 200 hours the Hydra required.
In short, in using the MSA power cord, you are not simply buying a power cord: you are buying a very simple but effective power line conditioner.
Follow Ups:
Quick question
I have ordered three power chords to try on my power amps and preamp.
All my electronics are plugged into a PurePower+ regenerator. Will I still expect to get an improvement in sound?
Alan
Definitely affirmative
