Silver plating works at radio frequencies but not audio frequencies, well maybe ultra high frequencies. The plating is not nearly thick enough to handle all frequencies in a linear fashion. When the much thicker copper and ultra-thin silver combine, it can create two different, frequency dependent, conductive pathways creating a sort of ultra sonic ringing or edginess. Use all copper or all silver. Some may hear it, some may not.

From a cynic's standpoint, some cable manufacturers cash in by advertising their product as silver cables when it's only silver plated. This stuff is not expensive, but has a big mark-up, knowing that audiophiles will buy it.

    Apparently it's not the mandate of Audio Asylum to be required to back up any of your statements. I've offered an easily understood explanation and it's up to you to buy in or not. It's basic physics.
