I have a 14AWG speaker cable and my speakers require 16AWG and above cable. Does it make a difference if I get 22AWG cable? Thanks.
Follow Ups:
It's likely that you are referring to a manufacturer recommendation of 16 AWG or larger (a.k.a. above). The cross section of 14 AWG wire is larger than that of 16 AWG wire, so based on the manufacturer recommendation, your speaker cable is acceptable.
An additional question here, please.
My speaker cable is (AQ)factory terminated with banana plugs but now I wish to change my amplifier which can accept only spades. I have some good quality WBT spades too. The question is whether I should remove the banana plugs from the cables and reterminate with the spades, or not being an expert in such things, is it safe to just plug in the banana into the spades and use them without disturbing the factory termination? I am not sure whether this will work.
Thanks in advance.

I would recommend a proper re-termination with the WBT spades that you already have. However, the Xhadow Reference Spade a.k.a Stereovox Spade Adapter is intended to act as a 4mm banana to spade connector adapter or a conventional spade connector. The Xhadow Reference Spade is one of my favorite spades, and bargain priced for what it is. If your banana plugs are actually BFA connectors (Z plugs) you might need to splay-out the rolled copper contacts in order to provide a secure grip on the spade/adapter. Here's two North American sellers that offer the Xhadow Reference Spade with worldwide shipping:

Much thanks for taking the time to help me out. I will follow-up.
Thanks. How is the banana plug held inside the Xhadow spade? Just plugged in, or soldered, or are there screws on the spade like they have in WBT?

The photos show that the banana is simply inserted into the spade like a binding post slot. No solder, no screws.
I did the same thing for connection to my vintage Scott integrated. My adapters were DIY however. With the Scott, the stock terminal strip is small, smaller spades need to be used compared to the larger connections on much of todays gear. I made a right angle adapter using smaller spades and Banana binding posts. I saw these available by some brand name manufacturer or well known dealer and basically copied the idea. Not sure it's the best way to go (adapters) but it's been sounding good for 10+ years. Point is, adapters are a viable alternative, especially if you arent sure whether you want to change the wire terminations for whatever reason.

No speakers require certain wire size.
I'm assuming you know that 16 & 22 ga is smaller than 14ga. Given that, I can't imagine using the 14ga being an issue. I could be wrong.
