I ordered a pair of speaker cables and these showed up (see photo).
One cable has blue shrink boots, the other black.
The blue boots are plain, the black boots show a directional arrow.
Manufacturer says this is not a defect and is how they are made, and direction is not significant except for bi-wire cables, which these are not. I've not seen a photo on A'gon or PNF web site that shows cables made this way. I have not hooked them up yet but feel uneasy about their mismatched colors.
Have you received these same style cables lately?
Do you think this would effect resale value?
Perhaps I am just too picky and paranoid?
For me, I care more about their sound (100%) than the mismatch colors (0%), just concerned about resale value if it ever came up.

Hello PNF Audio here...
A number of things to clarify here:
First, the cables were assembled that way on purpose. They are assembled that way so you can tell which cable is right and which is left. If you are hooking up behind the amp, you need a way to determine left from right. If someone wants them to be exactly the same on both cables no problem.
DYNAUDIO_RULES-We did not run out and make an excuse. Please have facts before you just assume something. See picture attached of ample supply.
Jay Buridan- I do not know what you are referring to? I would assume and hope this is prior to my ownership. Either way please email me to explain. steve@pnfaudio.com
KGTURNER, the cable you are referring to is a Symphony XL which we no longer make or offer for sale. Long story short, I bought this company a few years ago and the first thing I did was discontinue the Symphony XL (I thought the silver was a bit bright). Our standard Symphony to my ears sounded a lot better. I am positive you are referring to an order that had to have happened before I owned the company and with a cable that I do not offer for sale.
Dan, please post your thoughts on how the cables sound. If at all you would like to send these back and have black boots on both sides, please do and we will change them at no charge and ship back to you at no charge.
Asylum, I am not sure I want to change the way we build cables, but this is a great time to ask the question. What do you prefer, same color on both cables or different so you can tell which is right and which is left. I look forward to your comments.
One last thing, we are a tiny company, we are completely open to suggestions. Please email me if you have any suggestions steve@pnfaudio.com
Have not sat for critical listening yet. Will do so after more burn in hours. But so far, walking around the room(s) they sound balanced and smoooooth. Seem to be stretching out to all freqs. in both directions.
By the way, I like the two-color scheme so I'll be sticking with these. Thank you for the offer Steve. I just had not experienced this before and was curious what others thought.
More listening impressions to come ...
They are good cables, or at least to my liking, as much as sound is concerned.
Termination and boots leave quite a bit to be desired.
I bought a pair of PNF Symphony cables several years ago. Their site touted them as silver-plated copper. Whoever constructed the cable did a crappy job as the heat shrink was pulled back to expose copper wire underneath, no silver-plating at all. Needless to say I got my money back and steer clear of PNF ever since. Just my experience.

"religion is the opiate of the masses"
and found PNF speaker cables to be mediocre at best.
They had other type that was silver coated.
I do not know though what you had ordered.
I would bet they are indeed identical but they just ran out of materials or someone goofed, so they made up a quick excuse to pacify you....
Send them back and re-order or wait until the issue is resolved.

Personally, I would never accept speaker cables that were different from L and R.
but, it's not cool that they're labeled differently.
Bass is supposed to sound big. 6.5" is not a woofer size.
