I haven't seen any discussion on Morrow Cables. Just replaced anti-cables with a set of SP-3 speaker cables from Morrow, which was also cable-cooked by Mike Morrow. The improvement is considerable, with better musical timber, deeper and wider soundstage, more information which pulls me more into the music emotionally. The anti-cables were very clean clear, maybe too much so, and stripped the sound of involving me in the music. Anti-cables are good for the price, but the Morrow's are in a superior class.
I agree.
I replaced my anticables with the cheap Morrow SP1 I got in an auction on audiogon. They were much more detailed and MUCH wider soundstage.
They sounded lean until around 125 hrs ..... I did not have Morrow audio burn them..... but filled out very well after that.
I am going to upgrade to the SP3 in the future.
BTW the MA1 is a killer cheap IC as well. I have already moved up to the MA3 on IC's
Morrow audio ..... A great product,great support,and very nice price/performance ratio IMHO.
Take advantage of Mike Morrow's burn-in. Well worth the $39 IMHO to achieve aural nirvana a lot sooner.
I'm using Morrow SP-4's and had them cooked.
The rest of the system now needs "burned in" a bit as I've just changed to Monitor Audio RS-8's and RSW12's.
RayBan
I just ordered SP-4's. How do you like them? What were you using before? Thanks.
I'm currently using his MA 2 ICs between CDP and pre-amp and then a 3 meter run on to my power amp. Best ICs I've used in my system, but be warned, I am on the frugal side when it comes to cables. Previously auditioned Anti-Cable ICs and speaker cable a few years back. Not my cup of tea. Have never tried his speaker cable( Morrow )as I really like my current ClearDay which synergizes nicely with the Morrow ICs.
Very good stuff. I've been using both his ICs (balanced and single-ended) and speaker cables pretty much since he introduced them.
And how they differed from Cable X, Y, etc would be very helpful..
At the time I switched to the Morrows I was using mostly Oyaide PA-02. Earlier I used everything from Kimber KCAG and Audioquest Lapis and Diamond (way back when) to Mapleshade, Omega Mikro, and many others. The Morrows just grabbed me. I do think that cable choice is mostly system dependent (mine is in Inmate Systems). I've kept the Morrows in my system longer than any others I can remember and I think that their openness is their most compelling characteristic/difference. For me, their only current competitor is Cardas Golden Cross.
Im currently waiting for Morrow MA-4 interconnects to arrive and will post my thoughts when they have had time to settle.
Im also interested in others experiences with Morrow Audio cables.
Morrow looks like it could be a 4 conductor solid core silver plated ohfc (copper). Possibly mil-spec m81822/4-b. Very easy to get and make and comes in a variety of small guages. You could easily make your own ic's or speaker cable with this wire and I bet it would sound good since they use this wire in the aerospace industry on sensitive electronic gear. Every conductor in this pec is covered with tefzel which is ultra thin which is a good dialectric. A 26awg and 20awg combination in the cable could result in carrying high frequencies in the 26awg and mid to lows on the 20awg. Just a thought here for you diy guys.
I'm interested to know how you like them. They are the top of the line interconnects by Morrow. Are you having them cooked?
