Hi Doc,Please feel free to do so, if this can spare anybody else the frustration, then it is a worthwhile thing.
Definitely, before trying to take the 12 position switch apart for ANY reason, put a knob on the shaft, that will keeps the balls and spring inside, where they are supposed to be.
And that will help spare family and friends from hearing "certain four and seven-letter words" that should never be used in polite company 8-)
Follow Ups:
same thing happened to me - wasn't as lucky with the magnet - still have 198 left over after finding a source for replacements.
