Ian,Sounds like you're making progress. There are a lot of posts in the archives about this issue and solutions for it if you do a search for B6 & B8. However, if you want the quick & dirty, the answer is usually to replace one of the 499-ohm resistors on the C4S board with either a 680-ohm R. or a 750-ohm resistor, whichever is handy. You shouldn't even have to remove the C4S board to do it. I had similar numbers and used a 680-ohm res. from R.Shack and the numbers came into line.
Thanks Matts, I'll give it a try. Should I put the same in the other (amp) board or test it first to see whether I get the similar readings.Ian
PS still have he fizzle but I haven't put the C4S in the Foreplay yet. The hum was reduced but fizzle remains. The sound is great though.

My experience is that you might need different resistance in the R1 position for each amp. The 12AT7 tubes vary a lot. Also some of the LEDs drop different voltages. In my Paramours, one amp was fine with the stock R1 and the other needed the R1 twiddled a little. You need to shoot for at least 70 volts difference between the plate voltage and the B+ voltage at the top of the C4s.
