I'm just wondering if any of the Brethren have any experience and comments regarding the aquisition and use of nautical equipment suitable for cruising the NW waters of Puget Sound and the San Juans. Comfort and style are mandatory. What would make a Bottlehead happy on the high seas? (Room for a SET system I would suppose, but let's not steer me toward a DIY boat kit!)Any mariners out there?
Thanks for your comments.

From your post,it's not clear to me if you want to rent, lease,or buy.
If you are an experienced mariner, you need no imput from me.
In crowded waterways where there is lots of commercial shipping coming and going, consider leasing a ship and crew for whatever length of time you require. The local crew would know the nuances of the local waters. Let them worry about storms, maintanance, the coast guard, rock outcroppings at low tides, etc. The crew could then tell you honestly the time, money, and learning curve involved in whatever you want to do with a ship.

The Sab Juan Islands are Gods gift to Washington State. We had a pod of Killer Whales go under and around my 14 foot inflatable boat once off San Juan Island. It was a once in a lifetime experience. Scuba diving, the San Juans Islands have to be the best in the continental United States. Vertical drops that go for ever.
