The standard cheap n easy way to go is full-range drivers, in bass-reflex, flat baffle, or TQWT setups. Doc B. has "S.E.X. speaker" plans on the ET website that will produce a decent speak for your amps for less than $100. No bass though! The "straight 8" design, which is still in prototyping, will be 8 full-range drivers plus tweeter in a bass-reflex cabinet. There are also other kits available, like the Fostex 103mm in TQWT kit discussed earlier. Certainly for less than $1000, and less than $300 if you want, you can acquire speakers that will do your S.E.X. amps justice and maybe embarrass some high-priced commercial designs.
I was coached by Doc to try it with what I had, and then make up my mind as to what I needed to do. In my case, I lucked out. I am using the PSB 300 (Canadian). They sound surprisingly good, with the 8 ohm tap on the output transformer of the ParaSEX.I am reviewing my higher-sensitivity speaker options, and per Paul Joppa I should really be looking at a speaker that rates above 93db/W/M sensitivity (see the FAQ), for a speaker of 5 watts or so.
