So, I have had Edcor wind some custom transformers for me. They are 8k to 250/32 ohm without a gap. Even though I asked for them to measure the primary L, they forgot. They then got back to me with an estimate of 15 H, which I thought might be a little low for an ungapped transformer. I went ahead and got 10 because I wanted 1 pair for the Quickie, and 1 pair for a 31 amp I want to build, and it would have cost me 80 for 4, or 100 for 10.
They are now a product from Edcor, EM0735, for under $10.50 a piece.
I would be happy to donate a pair to chez bottlehead for optimization, if you think it is worth it. They are, oddly enough due Friday, which is the same day as my quickie.
So, is there anything I might need to do with the parafeed cap for use with this transformer? Any other info I might need to get from Edcor? I believe they are based on the 2.5w core.
Thanks,
Chris

I would suggest you do some listening before recommending the part number. The 8K:250/32 is not anything we have used/tried before, and you will likely find that the 32 ohm tap isn't useful (too much stepdown). An 8k:500 with a center tap on the 500 ohm winding would be optimal according to what we have done so far. Also, spec 50+ H of inductance if possible.

I was planning on using my Paramour upgrade transformers, which I believe are 4K to 8 ohm. Will they not work well for a headphone amp with the Quickie?
Triamp... Take a load off!
Probably not. The 4k:8 ohm ratio is a giant stepdown (although they would work OK in a SEX amp set at 4k:16). You can certainly try, but you will get very low output.
Very interestng as i plan to use my Quickie as a headphone amp as well.
Does your description mean the Xformer will allow use with both high and low impendance phones?
