Of course, I would rather build than buy. I posted the thread just as an FYI.
My first Bottlehead Kit has been ordered, a Quickie, and I am pretty stoked. I am very sure I will be ordering more in the future, even with all my other projects in the basement, I am looking forward to doing a point to point instead for the first time.

Cool, haven't ordered mine yet. Should be fun. But the real, real fun comes when you build the FPIII, Paramount, etc... I have enjoyed those more than I can say. Quickie would be interesting from a learning perspective especially.
And from a play perspective!
That (IMHO) is the point of a $99 kit - you can play with it, try outrageous mods, take it to the beach ... :^) hey, how about some solar panels to power it? Or modify one of those crank-powered flashlights?
Or even a stationary bike. Oh the fun you can have!

And sound-wise it's got a pretty good foundation. DHT, clean HT, DC filaments, short point to point wiring. I think we're gonna get some fine sound out of it.
Triamp... Take a load off!
I think the DHT aspect will become more talked about once more folks hear it. That's one of the things I notice, the very relaxed yet highly resolved sound that DHTs have. When you combine that with the low noise battery supply you get a pretty refined sound for a Franklin.
