Current draw is 2mADC stock (36 volt B battery). With a transformer or choke in the plate instead of the 4K resistor, it might go as high as 3mA.
Thanks Paul,
If I try the upgrade transformers without a parafeed cap, is there a way to tell if I'm hurting the OPT's?
Better yet, is there a simple way for me to test if these trannies can handle a few millies of current, maybe the way you tested the OPT's in the link below?
Triamp... Take a load off!
OK, I just scrounged up an original-Foreplay upgrade OPT and checked it. Looks like 2mA is OK but 3mA is pushing it.
In both cases (this and the Speco) the exact current before saturation depends on the tightness with which the laminations are stacked. This can be pretty variable in a transformer not designed for DC.
Thanks Paul.
I assume you mean Paramour OPT (IIRC Foreplay only used B7's).
So it seems to be a borderline situation. Are 3.3uF parafeed caps appropriate here?
From what I've read, a high voltage cap would be inappropriate in a low voltage application. Is that correct in your view?
