issues might be from the cartridge used. Even though my MC is a 2.5MV output in some phono pres I had to use a stepup to get the white noise level way down. Seems a bit stupid but it worked so I left it that way and the sonics didn't seem to be compromised. Just because you were able to use your cartridge of choice in one preamp with low noise might not mean the same in another. Paul might just be correct! A little noise to get better sound might be worth the comprimise. You could always try a higher output cartridge.Steve
that's the attitude i had when i noticed the tube rush in the eros. all things considered, tube rush is one of the most easily tolerated types of noise that you can have. i'd rather have a soft wind-like noise than very harsh electric buzzing.
Noise is not the problem at all, just gain. I can believe that you might be able to run a low output MC straight into this thing but then noise might become an issue.
