Good morning,
Let's try this again. I'm trying to make a decision on whether to build some Paramounts and an Extended Foreplay. The sticking point is what speakers to build. Can anyone recommend where I can listen to these components? I've posted several times on pretty much this same topic and the one response that still resonates is "listen to what you intend to buy as tastes vary". It's good advice, I just need to figure out where to put it into action.
Thanks!

I have Paramounts built as 2A3's and Extended Foreplay in my system, and am located in Santa Rosa, CA, about 1 hour north of SF on 101. You are welcome to hear the components together driving Cain and Cain SHB's at 97db efficiency.

You just missed a get-together in the East Bay area; some Klipsch-heads and Bottleheads. Maybe you can contact some of these guys through the Klipsch Forum email.Rick

Hi intojazz,I'm in the Bay Area (I assume you mean the SF Bay Area) and run Bottlehead gear. You're welcome to come listen to my setup. Moved a couple of years ago and still haven't dialed things in too critically (too busy with other distractions), but you're welcome to come listen. Also, for what it's worth, I'm not running Paramounts and instead run Paraglow IIs. And they play through Straight 8s which, as you probably know, are no longer available as a kit. Lastly, I'm assuming from your moniker that you, too, are 'into jazz.'
The Frapper will show you who is in your area. You can then email them and possibly set up an audition. Occationally a "Bottlehead" or other audio nut will host a get together. These are great as they generally are set up to mix various components and projects toghether. Sometimes this can be a real eye opener. Most of us (IMHO) are in this for the journey, not neccessarily the destination. Every time I think I am at the destination the line moves! So even with the best intentions there is a degree of trial and error. You would be starting at a great place with the Paramont and the Foreplay III, as you would only need some nice efficient speakers to make them sound fantastic. I personally had been using Klipsch RB-3's but now have some vintage Electro Voice SP-12b's . I am a bit of a drive for you but check out the link.Terry
