what would be the effects of wireing my mours or mounts to use the 4 ohm taps instead of 8 ohm??? I read post on the Klipsch site recommending this for a fuller sound out of the klf 20 which is what I'm using. I'm wondering if this would give a bit more attenuation and if it might give a bit more bass, the two thing I'm searching for?

You're on the right track. Connecting NOMINAL 8 Ohm speakers to the 4 Ohm taps sacrifices a tad of total O/P power for an improvement in damping factor.
I have no idea what the impedance curve for your Klipsh speakers look like. If there are dips in the curve, particularly at low freqs., sacrificing power for damping will improve the sound.
