Would it be possible to develop a mechanical digital to analog converter...as in dual moving coil(cartridge?) with one side being activated by the digital signal mechanically connected to another moving coil to supply the input signal?

Follow Ups:
No, the digital signal really has nothing to do with the analog signal. The data rate for PCM is 172KB/s, or 1.35 million bits per second, so if it were a sin wave it would be at 1.35 Mhz. But it is more like a square wave that doesn't always change because you can have more than a single 1 or 0 in a row.

Thanks for setting me straight. I was reading an article by Steve Deckert where he talked about a moving coil cartridge putting 'life' back into recordings made in SS studio. Wondered if it could be used to put 'life' back into CDs.
