that is the 100k version from hong kong that we put in there.it took a little finesse to get it in; we had to move the volume hole back about quarter inch or so (we used a file to create an elongated hole rather than trying to re-drill a hole with no center).
the hong kong attenuators don't give you much real estate to hook up the in and out wires, so i made some little leads out of silver to hook those to...made the installation go a lot easier.
the cold lubricant left a residue on my brain that fogged up the soldering process a little (day after new years), but the sex worked on the first try with 3 pairs of eyes doing the checking.

How did you like the overal range of volume with that attenuator?

the attenuator is one of the 100k versions, and operates just like a regular volume pot, with the same volume range.crank it to the left, and you can't hear anything; crank it to the right and it goes to 11. if you check the resistance at full volume, there was little or no resistance between the in and out tabs, indicating full volume, just like a pot.
the 23 clicks were at good intervals, and close enough together that you weren't looking for a step in between two steps to be at a comfortable listening volume.
hope that helped.

The Hong Kong ladder "stepper" that I have, has -3 dB at "max" volume, it is wired so that position 24 (if it had one) would be straight through. Min volume setting is -60 dB. (100K / 100 ohms)/ed B in NH
I put in the same one......had to do some minor surgery on the base so it would fit.
Sure is FLAT out there
