Hi,

I have a pair of Audio Note AN J/B 836 speakers that were left to me,
but I know very little about them. I would appreciate any information regards to age and possible value?

  The B likely designates the kind of internal wiring used. Have no idea about the number 836 though.
  
  If it is the AN J - a rather big standmount that looks like the one I am linking then you did very well IMO. The AN J can be upgraded to boot.

      You'd have to check with Audio Note. Obviously the upgrades would be related to internal wiring and corssovers. But refoaming might be a good idea if the speakers were kept in humid environments.
      
      I'm not a cable supporter but the difference between the AN J/L and the J/spe were vast (Silver versus copper wiring and Birch Ply versus chipboard. So I assumed it was mostly cabinet.
      
      I have also heard the E/LX and E/Spe where the cabinet is the same and again the difference is very big.

      First I'd put alnico woofers -$3k a pair
      After that if you still have urge to upgrade there are silver wires , Black gates and silver PIO caps.
