Thanks guys for your suggestions. I will stick with my original order for the DAC2.1Sig first since I probably won't wait too long before I get the M3, and the fact that the menu inside the DAC looks so delicious! I have thought about the Kit1 amp for my distance future upgrade but afraid it might not drive my 86db ProAc 2.5 properly, meaning changing speaker too, oh man $$$! My original plan to upgrade my transport first to CDT-2 MK2 has already been budge twice now. I can imagine running into similar dilemma later when I have to decide wheather to get the CDT-2MK2 or Kit1 plus spk first!

Hi Robin88,
I believe that if you want to get tube sound, fist you may get the Kit 1. You can sell you old amp (as I have done) and speakers and get other with a little more sensitivity (well an important thing is not just the number, but how stable maintain impedance over the whole frequencies and size of your room).
When you hear the Kit one at first time, with your cd player, you will rediscover your record collection and maybe will think that this is the best sound, but then you can add the DAC kit and you will be in love!
Then when you can get the phono stage and put in your turntable a good recorded vinyl record, you will think that this is the way, then you can add the M3.
Well, that's just my HO.
Cheers,
Beto

What amp and transport are you using currently?

I'm using Musical Fidelity A3CD cdp as transport, Assembledge DAC3.1 w D2D-1, Symphonic Line by Odyssey amp&pre. Beto1 suggestion seems logical, but probably too costly at one go trading to Kit-1Sig and hi sensitivity Spk. What do you suggest?

Hi Robin88,
I advise you to get the standard kit one, get all the hardware, then the upgrades, this way you can configure easely and quickly your minimum set up. Then you may want to get some special tubes delicatessen (haha, like my Mullard CV181), Telefunkens, etc, etc.
I have recently get a first english vinyl pressing of the Rachmaninov, Previn, LSO and outperform by far the CD reissue (also have this and is a very good CD process reissue, BTW), thanks to the wonderful AN kit phonostage!!want to cry with that string section....
I believe that the amp is the heart of the chain.
Regards,
Beto

Thanks beto1, Profbrookes for your insite & suggestions. I know what you mean about the lively & seductive sound from a good tube system especially the 300b. That was what got me really interested in the first placed after I've listen to my friend's older VAC Renaissance pre/amp feeding off a AN DAC3.0, spk were Kef LS 3/5. Eventually I will get there, but want to do it one component at a time with the best config, more $efficient in the long run (also less noticable from the woman hok..hok..). I enjoy very much the sound of my current ProAc 2.5 spk thou it's quite power hungry, mid is very sweet & low's freq attack is quite good. Have yet to find a hi sen spk I like and also within my present price range, but will definitely audition AN spk and see.

The problem is that there are so many ways you can approach - all having their merits (depending on compatibilty issues in the interim term). One thing for sure is that you are headed in the right direction and once you end up with everything in place, you'll be very happy I'm sure.I know very little about the equipment that you currently have so I can't give a definitive answer.
It sounds like you have your heart set on the DAC 2.1 so I'd say go for it (I have just built one myself level B signature - it's burning in right now and I'm more than happy with the results).
I understand Betol's point of view about the Kit1 as it would probably have a huge impact but I also understand your monetary issues. So, perhaps make it the M3 Line next. Although you might want to look at Kit1 + speakers before a new transport. That all depends on how much detail your existing amp/speakers are capable of relaying. It can be possible to upgrade the front end only to find that other equipment (i.e. amp/speaker) can't keep up.
