I took the lid off my Bryston 4B-SSTē amp and flipped on it side and blow nearly 7 years of dust out,
It was a lot less than I thought it would be...
The amp has been getting hooter than it used to run.. but so is my preamp.
I even tried a different power conditioner laying around, to see if maybe the conditioner was going crazy.
Nope. The amp is a little hotter than I remember, Mainly it used to seem just worm tot he touch. Now it is hot. Still can keep my hand on it anywhere. But it just is hotter than it used to be,
Maybe 10F to 15F hotter.Anyway, I'll see if cleaning the dust out helps. Just got it plugged back together.
Playing music.. so I didn't destroy something dusting it internally! LOL

Whatever happened to if it ain't broke, don't fix it?
Cleaning out the dust is like vacuuming the inside of your car. Or even better, the carpet in your home.
Or do you let that go too?You believe dust mites have to have a life too...

Well at least the racks. shelves..
SO I am cleaning them. Which means taking the equipment off the shelves for some of them.
Spring cleaning in Fall I guess.
And time to move a few things around.
Rack issues and conflicts of either heat or space or connections are a challenge.
Usually I am pretty good at it.
Break out the old T-shirts, swabs and Deoxit. :)
I was quite amazed a few years ago to see a post (don't recall which site) suggesting the best way to clean vintage components was to first remove all tubes (if present) and place the unit in a dishwasher, cover off of course.
I've only used a vacuum cleaner and a very stiff brush.

Because? I'll personally guarantee that each & every transformer is fully "potted" and completely impervious to moisture.
The rest of the "bits & pieces?" Yeah, they might fail - but caps, diodes, resistors, & such are just a quick visit to "mouser.com" :)
