That's good to know about the caps, I couldn't imagine they reinvented the wheel when there were good quality components made by very reputable companies. I never gave the transformers a thought, I have a Marantz receiver from the early 70's with the original transformer. Unless the transformer was made poorly I imagine I'll be ashes blowing in the wind by the time anyone would have to worry about that.

Transformers don't fail often but the point is if it does fail and you can't get one you have a door stop.

It hasn't reached that point and hopefully the transformers won't fail but this amp is dual transformer. They made a single transformer model so why couldn't I have a competent tech wire it to use the one good transformer?
