Thanks Willis. Now I see why there are so few new posts on the forum.
I'm interested to hear one of the new Class D to see if they have the same muscle like the A/B.
Follow Ups:
My S/S system uses a pair of Primare A34.2, configured in mono, which puts out 550 watts @ 8ohms. They are Class D, using a unique configuration (ultra fast power device-see link below). They output 150 watts in stereo, and seemed to have as much muscle as any given class AB amps I've had over the years.
The reason I went with the monoblock option is that the extra power definitely improves performance across the board. The sound stage get wider, deeper, and the presentation just sounds closer to the original event. This is especially noticeable with music that has a very wide amount of dynamic contrasts. Clipping is pretty much non existent.
The point here is that the extra wattage from state of the art Class D amps is generally preferable to a lower powered Class AB amp.

A link and that second paragraph would be good.
