I always preferred the Rotel sound, but now i see their lowest price integrated is a 150W amp and costs around 2800 USD, as opposed to 1,000 USD for the ARCAM. Never cared for Cambridge amplification.

Aaaah, if you're throwing the two at me I would go for the Arcam.
I only had ONE Cambridge. It was nice. Full rich "heavy" but not big on detail. Kind of like my Marantz PM8004 that I love, but again not big on detail. ONLY from reading independent reviews it seems the Arcam surpass in this area.
Since you are using them as a second system with relatively small speakers and volume isn't going to be an issue the Arcam should be an excellent choice.
Best of luck and post your findings

The new Cambridge stuff is very good.

That suggests/admits that their previous Stuff Wasn't?
Oddly I've found Arcam slightly superior.
That said simple prosiac NAD gear sounds noticeably 'better'.. yet IMO.
