STill happy with the Odeons?? I have a new integrated amp in for review...the Aries Cerat Diana. It is really superb and the most realistic sound i have gotten from this system so far. The drawback is that it costs 20K and is enormous (110Kg!). The Odeons just keep delivering better and better sound the better gear I put with them...you never need to upgrade speakers again but every positive gear change will give you better and better sound.

I don't ever see myself pining for a different set of speakers. The Odeons are really too large for my listening area, but I knew that before I bought them. The issue for me will be to bring the rest of the setup to the same level. As you know, they're now on the 2A3 monos and I've had the SP-2 upgraded by John Hillig, but the cabling and sources could stand improvement. One step at a time, as the saying goes.
How are the new amps working out? They are about 4 watts, right? The least I have tried on mine are 20 watts or so. Is it easy to clip them?
Brad, see my response in SET:
May have missed it , what speakers are you using ....
I run a set of Odeon La Boheme speakers. They're two way hybrid horns. Morricab is the only other person I know of who also has a set of these; in fact he provided the motivation for me to go down to the Twin Cities to listen to them when the set I bought first became available.
Actually, they are not hybrids because the mid/bass driver is also back horn loaded...so they are in fact a full horn design :).
Ok, same as Brad, Yes he touts them well, so you have the other Pr made ..... :)

Heh. Yeah, well...there is that. ;-) He wasn't wrong though, as far as I can tell. They really do perform as advertised - very neutral and lifelike.
We both used to listen to electrostatics, so we both value a holographic presentation. I ended up having to get rid my of stats due to downsizing my residence, and because my wife's hearing is impaired, I needed something more dynamic for her to be able to appreciate listening to music with me. The Odeons fit the bill admirably, although I never thought that I'd be able to afford a speaker of this level. The guy was having trouble moving them, however, so I was able to get them at a really good price. Plus he took a big Tandberg amp I had in trade, so that made it much easier. But I never would have known what they were if it hadn't been for morricab, so I kind of owe him one. Then again, no one else knew what they were either, which is why I got them for what I did. The seller was also moving to a smaller residence, so they had to go.
I only wish I could have gotten the other pair that he had, which were a bit smaller than the La Bohemes for my downstairs system. The Rigolettos are pretty good sounding but not really close to the La Bohemes.
I have heard very few speakers with the ability to create realism like the La Boheme. They keep improving as you keep putting better gear behind them. I am glad you have put good amps on them...I will be putting the JJ back on again soon with the NAT Plasma to see if that or the Wall Opus M50 monos is a better competitor to the mighty Aries Cerat Diana integrated I have in house. Now that really makes the Odeons sing! So do KR Audio amps.
As you pointed out, a bit more power would have been nice, and I would have loved to have it. Being forced into retirement right after I got the Odeons forced some compromises, though, so I sacrificed some power for very high quality at the volume levels I listen at 99% of the time. So far, it's worked out for me.
I have some cabling changes in the works right now. I'll let you know how they pan out.
Yeah, I hear ya, sometimes life makes it's own rules. I just use the custom cabling that came with the speakers. It is from the German company Einstein, which makes top notch amps and preamps but used to make cables too. I have no idea what's in them in terms of metals (assume copper though given size and weight) or design/construction. However, they seem to let the speaker express itself fully...or maybe there is even another gear I am missing from them??? I would love to try Goertz silver foil but this would get very expensive fast.
