Hi folks,
I have finally come down to
YBA Passion IA350
Plinius Hawtonga
for mating with my Focal Electra 1008Be. Any suggestions on how the Plinius sounds like? Also what are your opinions on YBA. Should I risk going with them after the manufacturing has moved to China with Shanling acquiring a major stake?
Thanks guys!

I am curous about the Plinius as well.
Thanks Awe-d-ofile/fantja/michael
@michale: Awedofile is right. I dont think I'd want to deal with the complexities of the tube. However I did get the mcintosh recommendation from another fellow AA user as well.
@awe-do-file: Dont mind going with the older YBA. I tried looking for a dealer close by but dont see any YBA dealer anywhere around except the distributor who's out of my reach. However, since the distributor has shifted I am not sure if I can get enough support for YBA DT either :( let me look into it though. The newer ones are manufactured in Shanling's facility in China and the distributor says that its a 9001 certified facility and that YBA believes in strict quality control.
@fantja: Going to audition plinius next week. Will keep you folks updated.
I am also going to audition Hegel H160 with my Focal bookshelves next week. Any views of Hegel H160 folks?
If going for YBA, buy the earlier pieces that were not junk-sourced to china.
He should go with a vintage tube integrated and have someone go thru it and recap it or find one already redone like a Scott or Sherwood or Fisher X202.This guy is running a Scott 299 on a pair of ProAcs and it's pretty original and it sounds fantastic even on youtube. A Mac Mc240 would be good as well but he would need a preamp or at least a passive volume control.

I like tubes with those too but I mentioned that before when he posted a few weeks ago and he didnt seem interested. Now that he narrowed things down that older YBA when they were still made in France was nice. Especially that dual transformer model I mentioned.

For that money you can get the earlier made in France with better parts quality and sound IMO. Actually a good bit less. Id rather have the Integre DT ( dual transformer) on Audiogon now. 50 WPC is fine for those little Electras. The digital stuff in the new piece doesnt do anything for me but fear noise. The extra power isnt going to give you good bass, youll need a sub for that. Unless your a loud freak and even then youre not going to get much louder. The DT would free up over $3K for a sub and a better DAC if you need a DAC. Cabling andvother tweaks like power cords , outlets etc or money in the bank. We were Focal and YBA dealers they came from the same distributor and mated well.
