ok so went thru all cleaning...even loosened the pre/out board...
First with it all open and loose - all channels worked...
Tightened it all up again and now the only 2 channels that dont work are FL & Center....they do produce a signal bit sooo low you cant hear it unless you crank it...
I went thru all the decoding formats and this is consistent at this point for where those channels should be producing sound. I see the peak light come on so it seems to be getting the signal
loose solder joints or bad amps for those channels ?
Follow Ups:
Cover off helps connectivity. Back on physically missaligns it. Can be a solder joint or even a pcb trace that makes/breaks connection. Or just about any internal connection in the area between pre and power amps.
I'm not sure how much to ask you to try versus having a tech look at it.
Next steps would include poking and prodding with the power on. I've had much sucess over the years with friend's and my own equipment. Even trouble shooting by turning the lights off and watching for sparks in the dark when I push and prod. (Sometimes you have to put away the multimeter and be a little unorthodox!)
Would be going into dangerous territory with the power on.
Again, a tech with a schematic might be best.
Sorry the cleaning didn't work.

yeah i am drawing the line on playing with it while power is on...done enough electrical work over the years that getting hammered once with 120v is enough for a life time (faulty shielded cable, damn it).
Fact is i know i will need a new preamp as some time for the new tech here and coming. Since i am not set on what i want to do i am going to get an amp first then decide on peamp later. Will use the 9200 as preamp for now.
So what do you guys think on that 7 channel Marantz MM8077 ? i like that fact that it has toroidal power vs large capacity Ei. This baby has got to last an very very long time
Ouch! Sorry to hear about your past experience getting zapped.
I'm not familiar with the Marantz model you are asking about. Hopefully someone here can chime in or perhaps do a search in the forum.
Cheers!

BTW....anyone here have any experience with Outlaw Audio amps? looking at their 7 channel 7700 unit 7x200w
Does that amp require a 20 amp service?
Too much is never enough
website says 15 but i have 20 so no issues
The TOP Outlaw 7-channel amp takes 2x15amp plugs. I'm guessing that 2 circuits are called for.
Amp puts out a LOT of power.
Too much is never enough
