Is that the old SR-9200?
If it is have it fixed. It's a tank and you're not going to improve much unless you start from scratch. If you're happy - don't change unless you really do want a change. It's gonna cost ya time AND money.

Yup sr9200....found a authorized service center, only $20 for them to take look at it BUT was told expect a month ! only one tech for av receivers.
Should be simple to fix if they can find the source.
Sometimes, an inspection of the motherboard is in order, but you need good eyesight and [sound] judgment.
Consider a redo if not successful. There's a lot of used audio-video stuff for sale all of the time. $3K ought to get you something very good, even new.
It's worth the wait. Trying to reinvent you system you take you years.
If it ain't broke don't fix it. No pun intended. but you understand my point.
You can fiddle around with two channel for a while. But with HT getting all those connections and sources to work well together doesn't happen often.
