I am putting together a system for him and his girlfriend in there new apartment...will be pulling multiple duties...TV, Movies, (Netflix mostly)and Music, (MP3's) being streamed from their I phones...
I have talked them out of wireless Bose speakers and was looking at the new Elac's Deput series for speakers and price...
So, I need...Multiple digital inputs, built in DAC, Bluetooth capable and maybe some Wi-Fi streaming in an integrated amp...$300-$1500 range on the very top end...
Was possible thinking of a Pioneer or Denon receiver...HT may be an option but not a priority...these things look like Swiss Army Knifes these days...
I would like "decent" sound, but they are Millennials' and convenience is a bigger priority than SQ...
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated...
Thanks
Mark

I recently read a review of the Pro-Ject MAIA integrated in Home Theater Review, MSRP $499.00, it was compared to the Sprout and 3020, the MAIA has more features than either. Downside is possibly is 25x2 but there is a more expensive unit at 55x2, $999.00. Class D and small size, looked to be a cool little unit. Seems like the reviewer drive a set of Totem with the MAIA, then used it on his B&W's. He said the B&W's could use more power which could be expected.
I think it will do what you want. No app though, Old school IR Remote.
If you go the AVR route you'll want to make sure it is one of the newer generation units. Older models do not have Bluetooth.

There's also the PS Audio Sprout but it has no remote or app.
I read about it a little. I don't think it'll replace a really good stereo but it might be great for someone who prioritizes convenience and portability.
For $599.00 look at the Cambridge Audio SR20, 2.1 but everything else and sound quality would be better than an AVR, IMO.
Also, FWIW, I had an Onkyo AVR that I replaced with a Marantz, the Marantz was so much better, I was really surprised as I thought most AVR's sound is pretty much in the same ball park.
The NAD products, which there are amny, is also a good suggestion.
All excellent suggestions -guys.
Check out Denon's AVR series and Pioneer VSX 930K.
Good luck

Just add some small, tube-friendly speakers and a digital source of any kind and she becomes an instant audiophile.

That is just plain damn sexy...I just don't see my nephew replacing tubes or biasing for that matter...
But what a great second system...
Thanks again...

My heart stopped beating. The system looks like an old Marantz amp with a pair of KLH, something I had a long time ago.
Cheers

Still waiting to hear if anyone has heard one.

I may be a bit biased though.... But here are some thoughts: Have streamed some hi-res (DSD) tunes from my iPhone (Onkyo player) through the USB dac with very nice results. It also has a nice built in MM/MC phono preamp which has LPs on the Rega RP1 pictured sounding surprisingly good (for the $$$ that is). Have not tried the headphone amp yet (not much of a Head-Fi guy) or other speakers yet. With the speakers supplied in this room, I use a bit of the Xbass EQ it has to deliver a nice tonal balance for the space and volume levels used.
P.S. Using the leather Hideinthesound.com TT mat on the RP1/W PP with really good results.

good to hear the substance is on a par with looks/design/size and price!
Nice, accessible, musical space you have going there!

Unfortunately, things often tend to get some what cluttered up around here and often not as nice & accessible (and neat/organized) as I would like! :-) This is what happens when ones work/home/office is all in the same place I guess!

Hard to beat an AVR given your requirements list. Most are (cough) "generously" specced by the manufacturers, but should still easily drive most mainstream speakers.
What speakers do they have?
I know Nakamichi has a new line of modern millennium equipment.

Yeah, receivers are hard to beat for digital inputs and HDMI switching.
Onkyo, Denon, Pioneer, Yamaha etc are all pretty good and vary mostly with price and features. I use an older Yamaha RX-v5 something for HT surround and decoding duties and it's great. Their room correction and calibration works very well and the DACs are very good. What was a big surprise is that I bought another one for my daughter and hooked it up with my old Vandy 3As and it drove them quite well.
The one below does it all with 4 HDMI inputs and 4K pass through along with front panel connections for iPhones and iPods. Honestly, the kids typically just use the mini plug connection to the iPhone headphone jack and rock out.

Even if there is no HDMI. I use computer speakers for a play room big screen TV. It works! It has two inputs and I feed it from a PCM fiber optic and the other can be a blue tooth. Best $60 you can spend, new.
for looking at electronics and he ended up buying this Onkyo 626 for about $500.00 It sounds decent, has built in room correction, and does hdmi switching. His only complaint was that it said Atmos ready on the box but in order to do that it takes away the rear speakers. They have it set up for 7.1 and like I said it sounds decent for the price. It would have taken another $500.00 to get Atmos so he passed. It has wireless streaming and hd movies streamed from Netflix have been no problem for them.
thanks Lee...
I had a feeling it was going to be a receiver...they just do it all and are a great value...
He will most likely just start 2-channel, but who knows...
Great link...
thanks again...

Kenwood is not bad - i have an older unit (w/O DAC) that I am enjoying-
