Mcintosh is releasing 3 new preamps. I am most curious about the C47. Any opinions yet?

If they are just releasing it, how would anyone know?
Shows, dealer events, demos...................
The status was shipping a month ago. They should
be out there somewhere by now.It does not have the advertised S/N ratio of some others. Only 100db is listed in specs. Benchmark claims 126db.

I don't know about anyone else but it would take me a lot longer than a month to evaluate any new piece in my system. First the unit has to break in then it would take my ears to adjust to the sound differences and whether they were improvements or not....
Given the rapid pace of change within the DAC world, I'd rather not embed one within the relatively constant world of a preamp.
Perhaps it makes more sense for their all-in-one integrateds like the 7900.
The RAPID changing landscape of digital, streaming, devices, what ever is next audio, it would be prudent not to have a dedicated DAC in a preamp.
Also the repair factor. Much like DVD and CDPs being so cheap. It's actually cheaper to just buy a new one and not fix the old one. Besides when those typed of electronics are repaired they never "seem" to be the same.
Separates were a good idea sixty years ago.
They're still a good idea.

I always liked Mac's preamps. However, I was never a fan of their amplifiers. Go figure?
If I had the cash and was in the market I would give this a GOOD lookin over!
Post any additional info you find - please. Like I said, I always thought Mac made some great preamps.
