"Assuming just plain stereo, the job of the hi-fi system remains simply to ensure that the two channels that the record producers have created for us make it into the room as close to intact as possible. When this is done properly it can sound pretty spectacular.
However, at every stage in the recording and replay process, distortions are added to the signal. It would seem fairly straightforward that we would like to minimise those distortions. But while audiophiles and the hi-fi industry may pay lip service to this idea they then simply rip it up and start from the position that pimped-up copies of technology from circa 1950 are the best way to achieve this. This ancient technology contributes quite a few distortions that modern technology would not. There is no prospect of fundamental improvements."

I don't know why you started another thread on the topic when the reasons were explained to you in an easily digestible fashion.
Perhaps some of us are not "pay lip service to this idea they then simply rip it up and start from the position that pimped-up copies of technology from circa 1950"
Do you really think us SET owners started out with SETs? Is that what you are saying?
No, we are open minded free-thinking individuals who actually experienced the correlation between the science and the sound as we progressed down this path.
Who in their right mind would get all spendy on classy iron and vintage tubes and tolerate inefficiency if all we needed was a little chip amp?
Been there, done that.
The river of denial is cold and harsh.

I would be much more inclined to believe you were truly open minded if you didn't feel the need to validate your personal preferences with half-baked "science" and dictate the "superiority" of your choice.
The river of delusion is dark and dirty.

Is that it? You're giving up?
It's hard to argue against someone making complete sense isn't it?

Everybody is after a different sound.
Natural, neutral, articulation and dynamics.
Priorities and different ears.
Desires and room acoustics.
All are factors in what is heard.
Distortion which is acceptable to one,
is found to be irritating to another.
PP, SE, SS, tubes and feedback each
have advantages and drawbacks.
To get on a soapbox and proclaim that
I have the truth so listen to me.
Gets old very fast.

I previously owned a Boulder 1060 which IS a beautifully designed and built amp, has great power and authority & is essentially designed to as far as possible eliminate any distortions or colorations. Boulder aim for dead neutral. I really liked that amp paired with a tubed linestage, though I personally wouldn't go for an all-Boulder system.I much prefer the sound of the Vitus signature series which is designed around musicality and to sound unfatiguing. Sure, their gear also measures well, however that is a secondary consideration to musicality.
Vitus SCD025, SIA025, Oppo BPD-103AU, Magico S5's, Taoc ASR racks + SCB-RS50g, Stillpoints Ultra 6's/Mini's/LPI's, Furutech GTX-D(G), Gigawatt PC-3 SE Evo, Jorma Prime pc's + xlr's/Statement sc's/Unity pc, Siltech Classic Anniversary rcas + HDMI

To satisfy someone who won't even deign to list what he listens to in Inmate Systems? I don't think so. And I'm well aware of how you love to string these things out, so know that this is my last post on this particular topic. Enjoy yourself.
