"In a high-end salon, played on a $40k system, a system made up of some of technology's newest triumphs, most of your once-favorite albums, strangely enough, no longer sound good. And while a few high-quality recordings of mediocre performances do sound good, they do not artistically merit a second listening, an amazing technological feet, considering that your favorite music was once enjoyed readily when heard through a car or table radio's single 5-inch speaker. "
Such hyperbole!
My idea of required reading clearly doesn't align with yours.

OK, but since you acknowledge as much what motivated you to suggest the article be on a short list for audio enthusiasts? ... you didn't even throw in the cautionary IMO!
I found a lot of truth in the article but don't necessarily agree with everything. That's what critical thinking is all about. Undoubtedly you may find something to agree/disagree with that I do not. Our tastes and preferences are different...Just like amps, right?

That guy is a joke, unless I'm so slow I don't recognize a good Don Rickles knock off ... frankly it's pretty amazing from that perspective.
He deserves a record for pulling out every possible cliche, and making even worst job of his own take on same.
It's really quite embarrassing, and stupid ... vapid, maybe? ... I'm searching for a word, its not something one see everyday.
Now if he were making a case for balance control ... maybe ... after all he seems like precisely the type of idiot tone control were always a bad idea for.
Glad I didn't suggest it as recommended reading ... yeah right ... for a good laugh LOL
