Oh no! Now I need to buy a pre-amp to use this? Bummer!
Thank you for your help.

If your receiver offers pre out/main in jacks you could leverage the preamp section from it.
It looks like it does. I'm still in the dark aout how to hook it up.
What about my mixer with the Aux sends?
a description of your current arrangement? That will help to determine how to add a power amp into the mix.
Well, it's pretty simple. I have a Yamaha RX-V461 with 2 front speakers, a center, and a sub. I'm pretty happy with it, but would love it to sound better and have more power.
But my main interest is to try and hook it up to my mixer so I don't have to buy self-powered monitors for it. The sound input to the mixer (once recorded) comes from my Macintosh computer straight to the mixer. I can use headphones, but haven't figured out a way to use medium to large monitors for it.
Thakn you so much, I feel pretty simple minded now....sorry.
For starters, your receiver cannot split the pre and power amp sections. That's a problem if you wanted to use it. If, on the other hand, your source drives the mixer then into the receiver, you could use the main outputs of your mixer to drive the amp directly. In which case, you'd need to purchase a couple of inexpensive Phone plug--> RCA adapters.
The Yamaha becomes unnecessary.
That sounds like a good option.
So should I run the Mac output to the mixer and the mixer to the Sonamp?
What output on the mixer? The "main out"? Or "tape in" and "tape out"?
It also has a "control room" function that cuts the signal when needed.
Thank you!
So should I run the Mac output to the mixer and the mixer to the Sonamp?Understand that the mixer is a preamp.
What output on the mixer?
My answer is unchanged from the previous post. Main outs are variable determined by the gain controls while tape outs are fixed.
edit: Look at figure 5.1 in the 8002 manual

Ok, I'll give that a try. Can I do damage to the mixer in any way?
Don't overload its inputs nor short its outputs - caveats for virtually any component.
Once again, the mixer is fundamentally a mic and line preamp designed to drive a power amp - as you see in the diagram.
I confess that I'm not too keen on the sound of Behringer gear that uses handfuls of 4580 ICs, but it will work just fine.
I'll try that when I return home soon.
Thank you!! I'll let you know what happens. Fingers crossed.
Remember that you will need adapter plugs from the preamp's phone plug output to the power amp's RCA inputs. Those were required when I once used a Behringer EQ.
Here's an example from Parts Express
Good luck!
