I had to take the bottom plate off and work on it upside down. I'm such a klutz. My on/off toggle switch is now reversed. Up is off and down is on. I'm not going back in there any time soon. I'll get used to the switch.
I've got a noisy Noble wiper stepped volume control on my Forte' preamp. Fortunately it's only noisy when changing volume. When set, it's quiet. That's good because it's a sealed pot. No way to get Deoxit inside.

I'm thankful that's all it needed. That was hard enough with 10 thumbs and a random selection of tools. Everything didn't go back like it was, but the sound/performance is just like it should be now. I didn't realize the input selector was messing with imaging/soundstaging too. Now, sound that is supposed to be centered is.
I have an old Parasound preamp that has some scratchy noise in the volume control too. Like your Forte, it's quiet once in position but is noisy when moved. I'll open it up soon to see if I can get the Deoxit to the volume control. I'm also thinking of opening my old Sansui integrated and giving that thing a good cleaning. It's been sittin' up for too long.
