Speaker load & impedance is within nominal ratings of the amp?

Yes. Worked fine for six months, then it started.

It sounds like English, but I can't understand a word you're saying.
Long ago, when I had a Naim 250 driving my Maggies (with 30' Naim speaker cables - the room was 25' long), it would often go into thermal overload if I played Pink Floyd too loud in the summer ... and shut down for half an hour! :-((
Moving the amp to the other end of the room, near the speakers, so that I had 30' ICs and short speaker cables ... solved the problem. :-))
I guess the long speaker cables just had too much capacitance for the amp to be comfortable with - so it got hot.

Andy
Not a cable interface problem. The amp/cable system worked fine for 6 months, then just stopped. Weird.

No shorts anywhere in speaker wire or connections?

No shorts anywhere that I can find. As I said, everything worked fine for 6 months, then, for no reason, it just started cutting out briefly, then wouldn't play at all.
